CHRISTMAS! The lighted boat parade is really the official start to Christmas for us! Our town is so cute!

The folks at the yacht club deck their boats out with hundreds of lights and circle the marina. Usually only once or maybe twice…

This event is an all day event. See the folks across the water? Quite a lot of people for such a rainy day!

And the last boat carries Santa in to light up the big Christmas tree.

This year, this very rainy year, the boats went around THREE times.

Time out!

I think Santa and Mrs. Clause are fighting.

See! Look at Mrs. Clause! And there is Santa ignoring her! I’m sure she just wants him to get inside so he doesn’t get all wet! He could catch a cold!

That could ruin Christmas!

Lots of rain! And they had a few announcements to make…

A few LOOOOONG announcements.

I think they need a new light stringer… Or whatever you call a person who strings lights.

The group shot didn’t work, but I tried.

Then the walk home to eat soup and drink hot coco!

Yesterday morning was crazy foggy! You could see the sun trying to burn the fog away, which made for such pretty light. And for some reason there seemed to be spiders EVERYWHERE! Jane and I saw a couple of HUGE Orb Weavers! No joke! They were monstrous! Their webs were so stunning, she ended up late for school because we were marveling over the huge dew covered webs.

I decided to take the kids I had with me for a walk. To look at the different webs and get out in this magical light.

… to start our Christmas season off.

 

Jeramy had the day off yesterday and that usually means we are cleaning or doing nothing all day. I didn’t want to waste the day… Shopping was out of the picture, so what were we to do? I’m always down for a photo shoot, but I don’t always have willing subjects. 😉 I try to mask it as, “Let’s go for a walk!” And all I get is the backs of my family. 🙁 I suggested we do something creative and Jeramy immediately suggested we write a Christmas song.The kids were IN! Whoo hoo!

Please don’t think it was like the Partridge Family or Brady Bunch. It was not. 😉

We sat down at the table brainstorming ideas while Jeramy gathered his guitar and recording equipment. During that time we laughed and learned good lessons about teasing and rolling eyes, forgiveness and moving on… good stuff. I learned that we need to do projects like this more often. Wanna know how I came to that conclusion? Working together was pretty rough. 😉 I was having a hard time to not knocking their heads together and they had a hard time not rolling their eyes. I’m a firm believer that when something is challenging, you need to practice it. 😉

I finally got out coloring books and hot coco. That was when it got better! 😉

As well as recalling lots of fun Christmas memories… Its fun to hear what the kids remember. I often wonder what the kids actually remember vs. what they just recall from looking at pictures from past Christmases. Hummm…
